I'm working on a project at the office that is tedious, at best. Sometimes my mind wanders and later, I discover mistakes and oversights - whoops! I know it's because rather than focusing on my work, I start thinking and before long, I forget what I'm doing! And trust me, there is plenty to be distracted by.
So, to help me tolerate this tedious portion of my job (let's be honest: 95% of my job is tedious), I discovered the joy of colored highlighters. They make my work seem oh-so-wonderful when in reality the truth is less-than-colorful. (Boring = not colorful.)
When I worked at In His Image, I had colored binders, brightly colored sticky notes, charts and diagrams and workflows in all the lovely shades of the rainbow. Too bad I don't have a color printer at work...I could spice up this job in a heartbeat! My school binders are green and red and white with colored paper. There is a system to the madness too - colors represent categories, you know?
My love for color has really held me in quandry about our wedding colors. After settling on the main colors, I finally picked my final accent color: green. Seems appropriate right? I must be pragmatic in all my choices, and with green, I get a lovely color AND the proper send-off for my maiden name. I'll miss having a color name, but I'm pretty excited about my new name and all that comes with it. 164 days to go!

I'm too old for this!
Rollercoasters, that is.
C and I went to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg this past weekend. After a grueling 5 hour drive (it's supposed to be closer to 2) we swiftly located the closest Sonic and ate to our stomachs' delight. Fortunately, we were smart enough to drive down the day before so we didn't have to go straight to the park the same day. Saturday was the day o' fun to celebrate the mister's big 3-0. (Gotta be honest: I've been 30 for 10 months now and I don't feel it like I thought it would feel...)
Upon arrival, the Griffon coaster is looming in the distance, plunging folks to their (near) death. There was a brief period of time where I would have braved such a daring ride, but I now value my life, and my lunch. I'd like to keep them both where they should be, thank you very much. We opted for the Big Bad Wolf, a non-corkscrew, non-upside-down ride. We should have stuck with the carousel. After the short ride, my head was pounding from the jarring turns and drops, and he was about to puke. I should have known better...just riding the swings (sans Christian) made me dizzy and nauseous.
We're too old for this. The saddest realization of my thirties so far. Why are we going to Disneyworld for our honeymoon again?

Manic...Wednesday?
Wednesdays seem to be a little INSANE for me. It used to Mondays, but now it's Wednesdays, apparently. It must be the sitting through five hours of class the night before that just piles on the work for Wednesday. Today is no exception: I'm running from work, to a meeting, to a dentist appointment, to dinner, then wedding planning phone calls/tasks, to hosting my brother at home, not to mention the tiny little (overwhelming!) tasks that come up daily in wedding planning, work, graduate school and LIFE!
Someone needs to tell me how to say NO!
Life is full and good! :)

What? A new blog?
Yes, yes, a new blog. Xanga wimped out on me - I can't pull it up well at work and occasionally (ahem) I have a few minutes to jot down a note or two to share with my bl0g-world and Xanga doesn't load right. So a new blog it is.
SO MUCH has happened since I last blogged on Xanga, so instead of feeling guilty, then trying to rehash it all, I'm just going to start from today and work forward. No rehashing unless it fits with what I want to say. We're all about Grace, right?!
So today is Friday, and I'm starting up my blog again with high (yet realistic) hopes. Although I'm working full-time, taking two grad school classes right now, and planning a wedding, I need an journalistic outlet. Call me narcissistic, I'm blogging my journal for the virtual world to see. It's cathartic, and it serves the purpose of (attempting to) stay in touch.
